Damian J. Smyth

Damian has been Swanson Reed's Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Principals since July 2013, leading the firm's operations across the United States and Asia-Pacific.

He holds a Bachelor of Business with Distinction, is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and is a Registered Tax Agent. He began his career in general tax advisory, with an early focus on the power and electricity generation sector, before co-relaunching Swanson Reed in 2008 alongside Adam Rogers, building on the firm's engineering roots (founded in 1984) with the pair's professional-services background.

With more than 20 years in R&D tax credits, Damian is regularly quoted in the media on R&D tax policy and authors papers on taxation matters for academic and professional publications.
